Every softedge piece is unique β€” born of the heat and hands that held it through the making process β€” minor differences in colour, texture and finish are inevitable and should be embraced.

Handmade Distinctions

  • COLOUR VARIATION

Minor colour variation is common across the glazed surfaces of our plates and bowls, and may appear more pronounced in the Cornflower, Lilac, Tomato & Espresso colour-ways.

  • DRIP MARKS

Due to the original and challenging shape of the Rolled Rim range, some drip marks may be present on the underside of plates and bowls. These may occur most commonly across the Cornflower and Lilac colour-ways.

  • IRON MARKS

Small black or brown spots indicate the presence of iron particles in the kiln environment during firing, and are unavoidable when manufacturing at a small scale. Although infrequent, these may appear most visible on the Marshmallow, Cornflower, and Tomato colour-ways.

  • INJECTION POINT

A small fissure may be present at the slip casting injection point, the centre or outer footing of plates and platters. This is a normal part of high pressure casting and will not have an impact on the strength of your piece.
